Ferrari NV’s upcoming hybrid-electric supercar will generate about 1,000 hp and accelerate from zero to 100 kph (62 mph) in two seconds, reports Auto Motor und Sport.
The new model, which will be positioned above the current 812 Superfast, will feature a mid-engine layout that teams a twin-turbo 3.9-liter V-8 with three electric motors, according to the German magazine. The hybrid system could include a Formula One-style kinetic energy recovery system.
Pricing is expected to start at about $670,000. Ferrari is due to show the car to prospective buyers at an event in Italy next week. This could be followed with a public unveiling at the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in June.
By 2022, Ferrari intends to offer hybrid variants across 60% of its lineup. The company’s first all-electric model is expected by about 2022.
