FCA Ponders Sale of Comau Robotic Unit

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is studying a plan to sell its Comau automation and robotics business for as much as €2 billion ($2.3 billion), sources tell Bloomberg News.
If the carmaker’s strategic review is favorable, the sales process could begin in early 2019, the sources say. The company agreed in August to sell its Magneti Marelli partsmaking operations to KKR & Co.-owned Calsonic Kansei Corp. for €6.2 billion ($7 billion).
Selling off non-core assets will help FCA fund technology development. The moves also enable the company to focus more sharply on the performance of its automotive operations at a time when carmakers everywhere face regulatory, trade and market slowdown issues.
