Faurecia SA has inked a five-year deal with Accenture plc, a New York-based professional services company, to develop products and services for future connected and autonomous vehicles.
The initial focus will be on cognitive technologies to improve on-board user experiences, and unspecified services to enhance health and wellness. The partners also plan to leverage digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, augmented and virtual reality, blockchain and quantum computing.
Faurecia expects the partnership will lead to intuitive human-machine interfaces and accelerate the development of its Cockpit of the Future program. Noting that motorists spend an average of 500 hours per year in their vehicles, the company says people want interiors to become an extension of their homes and offices.
