Ex-GM Exec to Head Ford Connected-Vehicle Effort
Ford Motor Co. has named Don Butler to lead its newly created global vehicle connectivity unit.
Ford Motor Co. has named Don Butler to lead its newly created global vehicle connectivity unit.
Butler worked at General Motors Co. for 25 years, most recently as head of Cadillac global business development, before leaving the company unexpectedly last August. Other prior assignments include head of strategy and business development at OnStar and vice president at telematics startup Inrix.
Ford says it will extend its Sync AppLink system to another 3.4 million vehicles in 2014. The technology, which allows customers to access certain smartphone apps using in-car voice commands, currently is available in more than 1 million Ford models.
