Economic Sentiment for Germany Posts First Gain in 2014

The closely watched ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment for Germany has recorded its first gain this year.
The index began 2014 at +60 and had dropped each month since then. The index slumped to -3.6 in October.
ZEW (the Center for European Economic Research) reports that its November index for Germany gained 15.1 points, pushing it to +11.5. The index for current economic conditions in the country is at +3.3, up 0.1 point.
ZEW's index for sentiment about the entire eurozone is at +11.0, up 6.9 points this month. But the index for current conditions in the region fell 2.9 points to -59.7. The center cautions that Europe's economic situation remains "fragile" and remains threatened by continuing geopolitical tensions.
