Denso Corp. has signed a development agreement with TrafficCast International Inc. to combine their vehicle-to-infrastructure wireless communication technologies.
TrafficCast’s Bluetooth-based system operates over the 2.4 GHz spectrum, while Denso uses the 5.9 GHz dedicated-short-range communications (DSRC) protocol. Integrating the two would enable a roadside device to send and receive data on either platform to connected vehicles. Information also could be shared with transportation agencies to help measure and improve traffic flow and road safety, the partners note.
Middleton, Wis.-based TrafficCast provides travel time forecasting, road speed monitoring and other traffic-related information.
