Chinese Startup Readies Electric MPV

Shanghai-based Iconiq Motors says it is planning a production version of the Seven concept electric MPV in China it unveiled at last week’s Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California.
The Chinese startup company, which was formed in 2014, partnered with Dubai’s W Motors and Magna International’s Magna Steyr unit on the project. W Motors produces low-volume supercars, including the Lykan Hypersport that was used in last year’s Fast and Furious 7 movie.
Iconiq is targeting business-to-business, taxi and on-demand transportation services with the luxury 7-seater. The sporty concept model features rear-hinged doors for second-seat passengers and replaces traditional side mirrors with rear-facing cameras and an interior display screen. No other details about the vehicle or timeline for its introduction were provided.
