Chevy Marketing Chief to Retire
Tim Mahoney, who has served as the global chief marketing officer for General Motors Co. and its Chevrolet brand for nearly six years, plans to retire on March 1.

Tim Mahoney, who has served as the global chief marketing officer for General Motors Co. and its Chevrolet brand for nearly six years, plans to retire on March 1.
Mahoney’s successor hasn’t been named. GM says the move is not part of the buyout plan the carmaker announced in October that will slash about 18,000 salaried workers in North America.
At Chevy, Mahoney launched the acclaimed "Real People, Not Actors" ad campaign. Other credits include the “Blackout” ad that ran just prior to the start of the Super Bowl in 2015 and spots that disparaged the aluminum pickup bed in Ford’s F-150.
Prior to joining GM in 2013, Mahoney was Volkswagen Group’s chief product and marketing officer in the U.S. He also held executive positions at Porsche and Subaru in North America. His tenure at Subaru, which included two stints spanning more than 20 years, was highlighted by the "Love" advertising campaign that is still used today.
