Faraday Future Inc., the secretive Gardena, Calif.-based electric-car startup, has hired Marco Mattiacci as its global chief brand and commercial officer, effective immediately.
Faraday says Mattiacci will oversee the company’s branding, marketing, communications, distribution, sales and customer relations. He also will sit on the company’s strategy, design, product and human resources committees.
Mattiacci served as president and CEO of Ferrari Asia Pacific between 2006 and 2010, then held the same titles at Ferrari North America from 2010 to 2014.
In April 2014 he succeeded Stefano Domenicali as managing director and team principal of the Ferrari Formula One racing team. He was replaced in that position eight months later by Maurizio Arrivabene.
Faraday says it will erect a $1 billion EV factory in Nevada and begin making electric cars there in 2017.
