Eleven car and truck makers are likely this week to announce which of their vehicles will be part of the new round of recalls to replace faulty Takata Corp. airbag inflators.
Last week Takata conceded that 33.8 million vehicles in the U.S. are equipped with its inflators that could explode when triggered in a crash. Carmakers have already recalled 17 million cars and trucks to address the same problem.
The new recalls are expected to expand the current campaigns to more models and extend coverage to more parts of the country. Until carmakers can pinpoint which vehicles should be included, owners won't be able to tell whether or not their cars have a problem.
