Cadillac Chief Returns to GM’s Top Lobbying Job
General Motors Co. has named Robert Ferguson head of global public policy, the company's top lobbying job, effective immediately.

General Motors Co. has named Robert Ferguson head of global public policy, the company's top lobbying job, effective immediately. He reports directly to CEO Mary Barra.
Ferguson succeeds Selim Bingol, who also headed GM public relations before leaving the company in April.
Ferguson, 54, held essentially the same GM lobbying job between 2010 and 2012. Since then he has headed the Cadillac luxury brand. But he has been spending much of his time this year helping GM cope with the political fallout surrounding its safety recall crisis.
Barra says Ferguson's new missions will be to rebuild the company's relationships in Washington and "instilling confidence" in GM's effort to establish credibility in vehicle safety.
Ferguson's departure at Cadillac leaves the unit without a leader. GM says it will name a successor later. Last month Bill Peffer quit after heading the brand's U.S. sales operations for nine months.
