General Motors Co.’s chief human resources officer has resigned for “personal reasons” after less than eight months in the position. GM says it expects to appoint a replacement soon.
Jose Tomas was hired last June to succeed John Quattrone, who retired from GM after a 41-year career with the carmaker. Quattrone was named senior vice president in charge of global human resources shortly after Mary Barra was promoted to CEO in 2014.
Tomas was an auto industry outsider, who previously held top HR posts at health insurer Anthem and fast food giant Burger King Corp. He also had senior HR positions at Ryder Systems and Publix Super Markets.
