BorgWarner has opened a technical center in Noblesville, Ind., to develop and test products for electrified vehicles.
The 100,000-sq-ft facility consolidates the research and development activities of two other BorgWarner sites in Indiana for developing and validating alternators, motors, starters, power electronics products, P2 hybrid modules and 48-volt architectures.
The facility will house six 48-volt test stations, a sound chamber and shaker tables. Two new test cells will allow engineers to validate products as part of an integrated propulsion system. The lab also will conduct metallurgy testing and analysis. A 40,000-sq-ft lab within the new building will be for testing and building prototype systems.
