BMW AG has reduced the monthly rates for the Access subscription program it launched in the U.S. earlier this year to make the offering more competitive with rival Mercedes-Benz’s new service.
BMW, which is testing Access in Nashville, has added a base $1,099 monthly plan that enables customers to use the carmaker’s 3 Series lineup, M240i convertible, i3 electric car and X2 and X3 entry-level crossover models. This matches the $1,095 monthly rate Mercedes is charging for its base plan, which is being pilot tested in Nashville and Philadelphia.
BMW also has cut the price of its mid- and upper-level plans to $1,400 and $2,700 from $2,000 and $3,700, respectively. All plans cover insurance, maintenance expenses and roadside assistance.
