A123 Hires Former JCI Exec to Be Chief Technology Officer
Lithium-ion battery supplier A123 Systems LLC has hired Patrick Hurley formerly head of global core engineering for Johnson Controls Inc.'s Power Solutions division as its new chief technology officer.
Lithium-ion battery supplier A123 Systems LLC has hired Patrick Hurley formerly head of global core engineering for Johnson Controls Inc.'s Power Solutions division as its new chief technology officer.
Hurley also oversees A123 Venture Technologies (the company's R&D unit in Waltham, Mass.) to lead battery development work and technology integration at A123's operations in Hangzhou, China.
Hurley holds a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Purdue and completed several years of post-doctorate research at the California Institute of Technology. He later worked at Air Products and Chemicals before joining JCI.
At JCI, Hurley was industrial liaison for the U.S. Dept. of Energy's Joint Center for Energy Storage Research located at the Argonne National Laboratory outside Chicago.
