A HSK shrink-fit toolholding system for machining centers and multi-tasking machines has been released by Kennametal. There are two lines: GP, for carbide, HSS, and steel shanks, and HT (as in “High Torque”) for difficult-to-machine materials, so the clamping torque is on the order of 30 to 50% higher than the GP version. In order to perform at high speeds, all of the HSK shrink fit toolholders in the lineup have balancing quality of G2.5 at 25,000 rpm.
