Workers at a Faurecia SA factory in Saline, Mich., overwhelmingly approved a labor contract that includes a 56% pay hike for new hires, according to the United Auto Workers union.

All the plant’s UAW members will receive a $2,500 signing bonus. Workers with less than one year of service will see their base hourly pay grow from as little as $13 now to $20.25 by May 2023. Pay for more experienced workers, including skilled trades, will rise 13% over the same period.

Faurecia quickly reached an agreement with UAW negotiators last week only hours after the plant’s workers struck the facility. The plant supplies interior trim for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford and Tesla on a just-in-time basis.
