Volkswagen AG will maintain the distinctive design of its I.D. concept electric car when the company introduces a production version of the vehicle in early 2020.
But there will be some changes due to cost, technical, regulatory and other issues, Bischoff says. Among the features not making the cut are the concept’s camera-based side mirrors, electric door openers and flashy blue tires.
The I.D. concept was penned by VW’s main design studio in Wolfsburg, Germany. The vehicle, which is about the size of the current Golf, features snub-nose, unadorned grille, sharply angled windshield, panoramic sunroof, large wheel houses and a prominent rear spoiler.
