Volvo Car Group reports its operating profit in the first half of 2015 surged 71% to 1.7 billion kronor (€175 million).

Revenue in January-June grew 12% to 75 billion kronor (€7.9 billion), and deliveries advanced 1% to 232,300 units. Volvo says a sales slowdown in China was offset by strong gains in Europe. Demand in the U.S. was flat.

The company predicts a "substantial" jump in full-year profits for 2015. The company reiterates it expects to push global sales to 500,000 units this year and 800,000 in 2020.
