Honda Motor Co. will publicly introduce the production version of its Acura NSX hybrid supercar on Jan. 12 at the Detroit auto show. The company released a 30-second video teaser earlier today.

The Acura NSX supercar

The two-seater debuted in concept form at the Detroit show in 2012.

The first-generation NSX, which was marketed between 1990 and 2005, was powered by a mid-engine V-6 rated at 270 hp. Honda said last year the second-generation model will be propelled by a longitudinally mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged V-6 gasoline engine and three electric motors. Media reports have estimated the combination's output at 500 hp.

Honda, which once expected to put the NSX into production a few months ago, now says the vehicle will launch sometime next year. The car will be produced at a special facility at the company's Marysville, Ohio, manufacturing complex.
