2014 Mini Cooper
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has advised BMW AG it must lower the estimated fuel economy ratings for two Mini Cooper models.
EPA says it discovered the discrepancies while testing the cars at its emission lab in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Affected models are 2014 model three-door Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S models with manual and automatic transmissions. Reductions are 1-4 mpg depending upon model. City mileage ratings for all four variants are to be reduced by 1 mpg; highway adjustments are 1-4 mpg.
Within the past two years EPA has ordered similar adjustments for certain Ford, Hyundai-Kia and Mercedes-Benz models under a tightened oversight audit program.
