Some 3,200 United Auto Workers union members have ended a strike that began Tuesday morning at Nexteer Automotive Group Ltd. after reaching tentative agreement on a new four-year contract.
Workers rejected the original deal by a 97% margin, complaining of meager wage hikes and reduced paid days off. Neither side has revealed details about the new proposal, which replaces a contract signed five years ago.
The new offer averts supply disruptions that analysts say would have affected operations within days at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and General Motors plants in North America. UAW members are expected to conduct a ratification vote next week.
