Tesla Motors Inc. says Ricardo Reyes, its vice president of global communications, has left the company after 18 months in the post. Bloomberg News, which reported his exit, says neither Reyes nor the company has given a reason for his departure.
Reyes joined Tesla in 2009 as vice president of global communications and strategic marketing, quit in 2012 to head brand marketing and communications for a mobile payments startup and returned to Tesla in 2014 to his most recent position there.
Bloomberg notes that Reyes has left less than three weeks before Tesla launches its most important product to date: the $35,000 Model 3 electric sedan. The car is Tesla’s first high-volume model, and analysts say its success will be critical to the company’s long-term profitability.
