Tesla Motors Inc. says it will introduce its upcoming Model X electric crossover vehicle in China in the first half of 2016. The car is scheduled go on sale in the U.S. within a few months.
Tesla expects the Model X will double the company's sales worldwide. Sales of Tesla's only other vehicle, the $76,000 Model S sport sedan, slipped 2% to 9,100 units in the first half of 2015, according to Autodata Corp.
CEO Elon Musk has said Model S production was slowed by preparations to make the Model X, which will share the same platform.
