Tesla Inc.’s Model 3 electric sedan has won top ratings for all five crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The $49,000 Model 3 aced the agency’s 35-mph frontal barrier impact results for the driver and passenger, 38.5-mph front and rear side impacts into a barrier and pole, and rollover resistance test.

NHTSA notes that, since the car went into production a year ago, the agency has received no owner complaints and has launched no investigations or recalls for the car.

The current base Model 3, which retails for $49,000, is a rear-drive car that can travel 310 miles per charge, accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 140 mph.

The top-end version at $79,500 has two drive motors, all-wheel-drive, sportier wheels, a lower suspension, enhanced semi-autonomous capabilities and the ability to be upgraded electronically for fully autonomous driving. That version offers the same range but can zip from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and achieve a maximum speed of 155 mph.
