CEO Elon Musk says Tesla Motors Inc. will begin delivering its Model X electric crossover vehicle within the next four months.
The all-wheel-drive car, originally due in 2013, will share its platform with Tesla's only other current production vehicle, the $76,000-$106,000 Model S sedan. Model X production was delayed by technical problems with the crossover's upwardly opening gullwing doors.
Tesla reportedly aims to sell 10,000-15,000 Model X vehicles per year. The company says it has 20,000 "reservations" for the new car. Analysts predict the Model X will be priced about the same as the Model S. Tesla plans to introduce the $40,000 Model III compact electric sedan in 2017.
