Subaru Inc. is preparing to call back 366,300 of its Forster crossover vehicles in the U.S. to fix a loose electrical connection that could turn off the passenger airbag system.

The recall will target 2015-2018 models with heated front seats. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says a wire may come loose in the system that detects an occupant in the front passenger seat. If so, the airbags for that seating position won’t deploy in a crash when they should.
Subaru plans to notify owners in late November but won’t have the necessary repair parts until sometime later. The company plans to mail a second round of notices when it’s ready to fix the seats.
