Fuji Heavy Industries' Subaru unit predicts it will sell 500,000 vehicles in the American market this year, setting its third consecutive record in the market.
U.S. demand for Subaru cars and crossovers surged 26% to 424,700 units last year. The company had predicted sales this year would advance 8% to 460,000 units.
But volume in the first eight months jumped 19% to 334,000 vehicles, prompting the higher forecast. Subaru attributes results to strong demand for its Forester crossover, Outback and XV Crosstrek small crossovers and Legacy sedan.
