The Czech Republic has fined Volkswagen AG's Skoda unit 49 million Czech korunas (€1.8 million) for manipulating distributor margins in 2011-2012, Reuters reports, citing the government's anti-monopoly Web site.

The fine was imposed in December. But the government tells the news service it didn't announce the levy until now because it needed to remove confidential information from its ruling.
