Tesla Inc. is replacing its Asia Pacific marketing arm with a new division that will focus on China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau, sources tell Bloomberg News.
The new group will be headed by Tom Zhu, who replaced Robin Ren last year as head of the company’s Asian operations, the sources say. Zhu is expected to continue to lead Tesla’s efforts to open an assembly plant in Shanghai late this year. He also will continue to head sales training for the region.
Bloomberg says neither Zhu nor Tesla has responded to requests for comment about its report.
