China’s Qoros Automotive Co. aims to introduce a production version of its K-EV concept car in 2019.
The carmaker unveiled the all-electric concept, which it developed with Sweden’s Koenigsegg Automotive AB, this week at the Shanghai auto show. An updated engineering test car is expected to bow in November at the Guangzhou auto show.
The partners claim the so-called “super EV” can rocket from zero to 62 mph in 2.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 162 mph. A 107-kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides an estimated driving range of 310 miles.
Design cues include an asymmetric three-door system consisting of a single gullwing unit on the driver’s side and two doors on the passenger side. The dual-hinged front-passenger door can be opened conventionally or slide horizontally like in a minivan. The rear-passenger door slides open.
The carbon-fiber-intense interior is focused on rear seat comfort and amenities, according to Qoros.
