PSA Group tells investors it will add all-electric versions of its Peugeot 208 minicar and upcoming DS3 Crossback mini-crossover vehicle in 2019, Automotive News Europe reports.
Those models will be joined in the first half of 2020 by a battery-powered Peugeot 2008 small SUV, according to the online newspaper.
Over the same period PSA also will add an array of plug-in hybrid powertrain options for new vehicles that share the company’s “EMP2” platform. Those models will include the DS7 Crossback SUV, Peugeot 5008 midsize MPV and Citroen C5 Aircross midsize crossover.
PSA currently markets two EVs: the Citroen C Zero and its Peugeot iOn twin. Both cars are variants of Mitsubishi Motor Corp.’s iMiEV electric four-passenger hatchback.
CEO Carlos Tavares has said that PSA’s current business plan aims to bring the company’s plug-in hybrid and all-electric model counts to seven and four, respectively, by 2021. He also says 80% of PSA’s models will offer some type of electrified powertrain by 2023.
