Porsche AG has sold the last of its $845,000 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid supercars. Deliveries began in March.
Porsche unveiled the two-seater at the Frankfurt auto show in 2013 and announced it would sell only 918 copies. Nearly 300 owners are in the U.S., with 100 each in Germany and China.
The 918 Spyder's parallel hybrid system includes a 608-hp 4.6-liter V-8, a 6.8-kWh lithium-ion battery and two electric motors that contribute 286 hp. The combination nets 887 hp and as much as 944 lb-ft of torque.
Shelled in a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic body, the supercar has a fuel economy rating of 3.1 liters per 100 km (76 mpg) on the New European Driving Cycle.
Porsche says the car can zip to 100 kph in 2.6 seconds, 200 kph in 7.2 seconds and 300 kph in 19.9 seconds. Top speed is 345 kph (214 mph) 150 kph in all-electric mode.
