Nissan Motor Co. has canceled events later this week in Amsterdam and Yokohama to unveil an upgraded version of the Leaf electric car.
The move comes amid an unrelated, continuing investigation into former chairman Carlos Ghosn, who was arrested last week on suspicion of financial misconduct and conspiracy. Ghosn championed the Leaf, which was launched in 2010, and Nissan’s push into other electrified vehicles.
Nissan tells Reuters it will hold the Leaf unveiling at a later date to ensure the vehicle receives “the coverage it merits.” The 2019 model is expected to get a more powerful battery (60 kWh) that extends driving range by one-third to 200 miles.
