Volvo Car Corp. is partnering with Google Inc. to embed the tech giant’s Android operating system into Volvo’s next-generation Sensus infotainment system.
This will allow users to access features such as Google Assistant, Google Maps and Play Store apps, without having to synch an Android smartphone with the vehicle. The integrated system also will enable faster operations, real-time updates and over-the-air software downloads.
With Google Assistant, users will be able to control a car’s audio unit, climate control and messaging systems through simple voice commands. Volvo says it will launch Sensus within a “couple” of years.
