This year's SAE Convergence Conference and Exhibition in Detroit will feature a show floor "marketplace" where entrepreneurs and start-ups can tout their new ideas for automotive electronics.

Sponsored by SAE International, the two-day conference starts Oct. 16. Among the highlights will be more than 70 exhibitors, plus technical sessions on such topics as telematics, control systems, safety and powertrain.

The conference also includes a future leaders program for recent college graduates and presentations on topics that include megatrends affecting automotive electronics and the impact of "disruptive" technology.
