Mitsubishi Motors Corp. says the upcoming GT-PHEV concept SUV will preview the company’s next-generation plug-in hybrid architecture.

The vehicle, which will be publicly unveiled later this month at the Paris auto show, teams a high-capacity battery, a trio of electric motors—one in the front and two in the rear to provide permanent all-wheel drive—and an unspecified piston engine that MMC says is designed specifically for hybrid applications.

The company uses a two-motor setup in the plug-in hybrid variant of its new Outlander crossover/SUV.

MMC says the GT-PHEV concept has a total driving range of about 750 miles, including an estimated 75 miles on electric-only power.
