Mexican envoys say they continue to make progress in negotiating a two-way agreement with the U.S. to update the North American Free Trade Agreement.
Talks, which resumed between the two countries three weeks ago, will continue tomorrow. But reports say major issues, including a U.S. demand to add a “sunset” clause that would require an automatic review of NAFTA every five years.
Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo tells reporters that Canada could rejoin the talks as early as next week—but probably not until Mexico and the U.S. reach agreement. Three-way negotiations stalled in June.
