Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz unit expects to install 200 charging stations for plug-in electric vehicles in Thailand by the end of September, the Bangkok Post reports.
Mercedes markets eight locally assembled plug-in models under its EQ sub-brand. The unit says it has installed 32 stations at its authorized dealerships. The remaining 15-amp, 3.7-kW chargers will be added at major hotels and shopping centers
The company says its plug-ins now account for 40% of its total sales in Thailand, according to the Post. Mercedes said previously it aims to electrify its entire product portfolio by 2022.
The unit says government policies, which include investment incentives for manufacturers and tax breaks for buyers, have helped create a robust market for electrified vehicles in the country.
