Don Romano, chief marketing office Mazda Motor Corp.'s North American unit, has left after 12 years at the company, Automotive News reports. Romano also had served as president of Mazda's Canadian unit since 2006.
The company gave no explanation for Romano's sudden departure. Mazda sales in the U.S. jumped 18% year over year to 143,800 vehicles in the first half of 2012.
The company has promoted Shusuke Koreeda, executive vice president in Canada, to head that unit, according to AN. Mazda has not yet named a new North American CMO.
