Mazda Motor Corp. says it will electrify the powertrains of all its models by 2030.
The company predicts by then that 5% of its models will be all-electric. The remainder will be driven by hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains. The corporate aim is to lower its “well-to-wheel” carbon dioxide emissions 90% by 2050.
Mazda says it is developing two all-electric models, one with batteries alone and a second equipped with a range-extending generator powered by a small rotary engine. The company offers no further details about its product plans.
