Mazda CX-30 Sets Top Mark in Euro Safety Tests
Mazda Motor Corp.’s all-new CX-30 compact crossover vehicle earned a top five-star rating from the European New Car Assessment Program and scored a record-high 99% in the Adult Occupant Protection category.

Mazda Motor Corp.’s all-new CX-30 compact crossover vehicle earned a top five-star rating from the European New Car Assessment Program and scored a record 99% score in the Adult Occupant Protection category.
The CX-30’s performance surpassed the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Mazda3, Volvo XC60 and Volvo XC60, all of which received 98% adult occupant ratings during previous NCAP tests.
Officials from Thatcham Research, which conducts the tests, praised the CX-30’s structure and restraint systems. The vehicle received top scores in full-width barrier, side impact and side pole tests, which contribute to the adult occupancy scores. In other categories, the CX-30 scored 86% for Child Occupant Protection, 80% for Vulnerable Road Users and 77% for Safety Assist features.
The Ford Explorer and Mercedes-Benz GLB also received five-star ratings in the latest Euro NCAP tests. Every Mercedes model tested since 2014 has earned five stars.
The fourth vehicle tested in this round, the Vauxhall Corsa sedan, was awarded four stars. It narrowly missed the top ranking due to the performance of its seat and head restraints in whiplash testing, according to Thatcham.
