The new Asterion LPI 910-4 concept from Automobil Lamborghini promises supercar performance with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that cut carbon dioxide emissions to 98 g/km.

Lamborghini unveiled the car at the Paris auto show. The company hasn't said whether it will build the concept.

A naturally aspirated, 5.2-liter V-10 engine, borrowed from the brand's Huracan supercar, mounts longitudinally midship. It delivers 610 hp to the rear wheels through a fast-shifting 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

An electric motor, integrated with a generator and starter motor, fits between the engine and gearbox. Two more electric motors power the front wheels and provide all-wheel torque vectoring. The three electric motors generate a combined 300 hp, giving the all-wheel-drive powertrain a maximum output of 910 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque.

The two-seat Asterion, which Lamborghini describes as a "hyper cruiser," can zip from zero to 100 kph (62 mph) in 3 seconds and reach a top speed of 320 kph. In electric-only mode, the concept can reach a top speed of 125 kph (77 mph) or travel 50 km (31 miles) using energy from a lithium-ion battery housed in the center tunnel normally occupied by the transmission.

The car has a carbon fiber monocoque, transparent engine cover, minimalist interior and a taller seating position than the company's other models.
