Kia Motors Corp. has named Saad Chehab to take over as its U.S. marketing communications chief on May 8. He will succeed Tim Chaney, who left the post eight months ago.
Chehab joined Chrysler from Ford in 2009 and became famous for such extended Super Bowl television ads as “Born of Fire” with rapper Eminem in 2009 and “It’s Halftime in America” with actor-director Clint Eastwood in 2012. He later headed marketing for Fiat Chrysler Automobile NV’s Lancia and Maserati brands.
But he quit the company in 2015 after clashing with Oliver Francois, who was FCA’s chief marketing officer at the time.
At Kia, Chehab will help direct the brand’s efforts to move upscale with the coming debuts of its Stinger performance sedan and a large luxury SUV/crossover vehicle.
