Britta Seeger has been named head of global sales and marketing for Mercedes-Benz Cars, effective Jan. 1. She also will become a member of the Mercedes management board for a three-year term on that date.
Seeger, 46, will succeed Ola Kallenius, who has been appointed to lead Daimler’s r&d operations. She currently heads Mercedes sales operations in Turkey. Previously she held a similar post in South Korea.
Manfred Bischoff, chair of Daimler’s supervisory board, notes that her promotion moves her into a job responsible for “the most important connection with our customers.” It also propels her into the relatively small group of top-level female executives in the German auto industry.
Bischoff says Seeger’s board appointment “shows that we have outstanding women for board of management positions.”
