Costa Mesa, Calif.-based Karma Automotive LLC plans to open an engineering and purchasing office in Troy, Mich., as the company prepares to launch its Revero hybrid sports sedan later this year.
The $3.6 million facility is expected to eventually employ 150 people. The company didn't provide a timeline for the project.
Karma’s investment is supported by a $450,000 performance-based grant from the Michigan Business Development Program. The city of Troy will provide marketing and promotional assistance.
Karma, which is owned by China’s Wanxiang Group, was formed in 2014 from the assets of bankrupt hybrid supercar maker Fisker Automotive and Technology Group. The Revero—and updated version of the Fisker Karma—will be produced in Moreno, Valley, Calif.
