Denso Corp. and NRI Secure Technologies Ltd. are forming a joint venture to detect and diagnose the security risks of in-vehicle electronic products.

Dubbed NDIAS Ltd., the 50:50 venture will be officially established in December. The company will provide integrated security diagnosis and consulting services for in-vehicle electronics from the development phase through manufacturing.

The Tokyo-based partnership will be capitalized at 100 million yen ($877 million). The venture combines Denso’s manufacturing and cybersecurity expertise with NRI’s proprietary machine learning technology.

The venture will support Japan’s plan to develop automotive cybersecurity guidelines by 2020 in preparation for next-generation automated and connected vehicles.

Formed in 2000, NRI specializes in information security for financial systems, infrastructure and consumer equipment. The company employs 440 people.
