German metalworkers union IG Metall and the country's industrial employers have suspended contract negotiations after reaching an impasse, Bloomberg News reports.

German metalworkers union IG Metall and the country's industrial employers have suspended contract negotiations after reaching an impasse, Bloomberg News reports.
The union says the fifth round of bargaining stalled over temporary contracts and apprenticeships. Talks are scheduled to resume on Friday
Labor leaders say the parties have made progress on other issues but have not yet discussed pay. IG Metall is seeking a 6.5% wage hike for its 3.6 million members. The employer group, which includes makers of cars and trucks, have offered 3%.
