Hyundai Touts Smartphone App for EV Settings
Hyundai Motor Group says it has developed a smartphone app that will allow users to create and share various performance settings they can apply to other electric vehicles.

Hyundai Motor Group says it has developed a smartphone app that will allow users to create and share various performance settings they can apply to compatible electric vehicles.
Described as an industry first, the app can be used to create customized settings for acceleration/deceleration, energy usage related to climate control, regenerative braking, responsiveness, torque output and vehicle speed. The carmaker plans to make the technology available on future Hyundai and Kia vehicles.
In addition to their own EVs, users will be able to apply their settings to vehicles they rent and share. Motorists can create multiple profiles—to optimize driving range or sportiness, for example—or use Hyundai’s recommended settings based on route, weather, traffic and other road conditions. Blockchain technology will be used to secure safety and privacy, Hyundai says.
Hyundai and its Kia affiliate plan to launch 23 EVs worldwide by 2025.
