Hyundai Motor Co. says its upcoming “45” electric concept car blends design cues from company’s first model—the Giorgetto Giugiaro-penned 1974 Pony hatchback—to “future-driven” directions.
The carmaker will take the wraps off the new concept at next month’s Frankfurt auto show. There are no plans to build a production version.

A darkened teaser image of the vehicle shows a low-riding wide stance, extended wheel arches, slim C-pillars and steeply raked roofline. The rear LED light bar includes retro-styled taillights and an offset Hyundai badge.
In addition to future styling cues, the 45 is expected to preview a new EV platform that will accommodate midsize and larger vehicles. The architecture is due to carry a variety of next-generation Hyundai, Genesis and Kia models.
